Brown Rice Varieties

Catahoula – Southern firm variety, traditional long-grain. Great for dirty rice and burritos.

Dinorado – Red Filipino variety; slightly aromatic, chewy texture.  Excellent for fried rice, stuffing/dressing, and mushrooms.

Presidio – Long grain traditional grown is Texas, Delicious as a bed for stews and sauces.

Cadet – Medium grain, firm, wholesome, nutty.  Great for Spanish rice and ‘Red beans & rice.’

Jupiter –  Medium grain, chewy, hearty, great as fried rice or with stir-fries.

Koshihikari – Premium Sushi rice, medium grain, chewy.  Also a favorite for buddha bowls and stir-fries.

Sierra – Long Grain, tender, aromatic basmati-like variety; wonderful for biryani.

Tiara – Black variety, Superfood high in anti-oxidants and protein.  Great in winter salads with hearty greens and in stuffed squash. 

Brown Rice Grits –  Heavenly with coconut oil, delicious sweet or savory; can also be used for polenta
